Let it snow! A few fun things to do yourself or with kids (and 10cm of snowfall).

Let it snow!  A few fun things to do yourself or with kids and (10cm of snowfall).

Winter isn't QUITE done with us yet and we have another 10cm or so coming over the next few days.  But it isn't all bad!  Here are three things I'm planning on doing over the next few days with the coming snowfall - feel free to grab an idea or two!

1. Maple Taffy!  Most definitely my absolute FAVOURITE treats and you can make it yourself with some fresh snow.  I personally grab a tray-full from my upper deck, since nobody uses it during the winter and I know it hasn't been contaminated.  The instructions are easy to follow and all you need is a pot, a stove, pure Maple Syrup (none of the fake stuff!) and of course - SNOW!  Luckily, we have lots on the way.  Click HERE for the recipe and enjoy!

The (almost) final result from the recipe linked above - all of this could be yours!

2. Snowball Fun!  It can be hard to predict, but the snow MIGHT just get to that perfect "sticky" consistency that makes the best snowballs.  There may not be enough for a full fledged snowman, but a snowball fight could be in the cards!  You may be ready for the snow to be gone, but this could be the last chance until next winter, and the perfect type of snow is always a rarity.  I personally like to throw them for my dog to catch - it makes my niece giggle like crazy!

3. Look for animal tracks!  One of the things I love about snow is how easy it is to spot animal tracks!  Whether you have a nature trail nearby or just take a walk down the street, keep an eye out for rabbit, raccoons, foxes... I've even spotted a few deer nearby!

And those are my plans for the next few days!  If you give one of these a try (especially the maple taffy!) feel free to leave a comment and let me know how it went.  Let's squeeze a little bit more out of this season before Spring arrives!
